Volkswagen OTLG backs Mobile Easykey

In Dieburg near Frankfurt am Main, the “golden transponder” was handed over to Volkswagen Genuine Parts Logistics at the end of the introduction of Mobile Easykey. In Germany, VW OTLG has currently equipped 487 forklift trucks with the fleet management system Mobile Easykey and has thus reduced the costs of impact damage by 40 percent.

Hasso Lotz, responsible for the operative process and system management at VW OTLG, thanked for the savings realized in such a short time: In addition to the reduction of impact damage, the fleet could be reduced by 15 percent. And additional 15 percent savings due to the recent dynamic maintenance planning. The decision for the European market leader was taken in June 2014 after an extensive comparison of two systems as well as the subsequent test operation of Mobile Easykey.

In addition to the selection criteria such as uncomplicated set-up, ergonomics, safety, service and quality, the profitability of fleet management was of paramount importance. Conclusion of the test operation: “The system Easykey from the company Domnick + Müller not only shows the higher level of fulfillment, but also in all main criteria”.

“Thanks to the close cooperation with Volkswagen OTLG, even such a large roll-out could be realized in a short time,” says Jochen Müller, Managing Director of Domnick + Müller. It also points to the early involvement of employees and the works council. Considerations can usually be dealt with right from the start, since the data generated by Mobile Easykey are not personal.
Domnick + Müller benefits from years of experience with large companies such as Volkswagen, Daimler,
Lufthansa Cargo and many more.

Adaptive crash sensor
Mobile Easykey is today a modular system, which was at that time started as pure access control. In 15 years, the technology has been developed into a sophisticated fleet management system. For example, forklift trucks can be fitted with a “adaptive” crash sensor, which is amended to individual safety requirements during operation. In three defined steps the patented crash sensor can react and limit the forklift speed or shut it down completely.
Further highlights are the possibilities for monitoring oil level, water temperature, effective operating hours, electrolyte level, maintenance intervals, battery control as well as GPS positioning in the outdoor area. Special module versions are also available for cold storage and explosion protection facilities.

Modular system
Hasso Lotz from VW OTLG: “The modular system allows targeted use of Mobile Easykey – according to our individual needs.” In particular, the possibilities for improved battery management will be in the focus the future. Next to monitoring the electrolyte level, an optimization of the charging cycles with Mobile Easykey is to be achieved.

smart lock for drawbar equipment
In addition, VW OTLG is testing the introduction of smart lock, which is simply exchanges the mechanical switch locks in the case of drawbar devices and ensures the device at reasonable costs against unauthorized use. Like all Mobile Easykey modules, smart lock can also be used as a single solution or for entire fleets. Thus, drawbar devices can also be installed in the Mobile Easykey
Software. Users and devices can be intuitively managed., The maintenance planning can be controlled and extensive analyzes can be generated, which generally lead to savings, like VW OTLG was able to realize in the shortest possible time.
